5 Natural Items for Oral Hygiene

Floride may be thought to do the teeth good but evidence has certainly stacked up against fluoride being a positive to the rest of our body. It’s linked to all sorts of ailments, such as bone cancer, thyroid disease, and brain damage. With the recent rise in consumer awareness, health conscious people are ditching fluoride quickly, and studies are proving it’s something we should all consider. However, for many, this causes concern because we’ve grown up under the illusion that we have to have fluoride in order to have healthy teeth. But, at what cost are we doing this? Furthermore, is there a way in which we can get the benefits fluoride is touted as providing without endangering our lives in the process? Without a doubt, there are plenty of natural items to help maintain our oral hygiene and stay healthy at the same time.Natural ToothpasteWhether done at home with a few simple ingredients or store-bought, natural toothpaste is no big deal to get, and it gets rid of any issues we might have with commercial pastes, most of which flaunt their inclusion of fluoride. There are lots of opinions on homemade toothpastes out there, but to keep it in perspective, humankind survived many, many years without chemically produced, mass marketed, brand name toothpaste. We can — and probably should — learn to press on without them.Cloves and Clove OilCloves and clove oil are still common in the dentist office, particularly for pain relief from toothaches. Clove oil, or more so the eugenol found in it, numbs the area, as well as supplies anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effects. This means that, aside from providing relief, it helps to remedy situations that might cause us to lose a tooth or worse. The simplest method for utilizing cloves in oral hygiene is to chew a clove (only one, it’s powerful) or to apply it directly to the troublesome area. A natural clove mouth wash is but four ingredients away.

How to Make Your Own Natural Liquid Hand Soap

n 4 Personal Care Products You Should Never Buy Again, we listed antibacterial soap due to its toxic ingredients, including triclosan, that are known to cause endocrine (hormone) disruptions and create resistance in bacteria. Aside from triclosan though, consumers should also be weary of regularly “cleaning” their hands with ingredients classified by The Environmental Working Group as “expected as toxic or harmful” like Tetrasodium EDTA, a preservative made from formaldehyde, or sodium lauryl sulfate. The list of ingredients to avoid in commercial hand soap is nearly as long as the list of ingredients in the hand soap itself. Among the others to avoid are parabens, which have been found in breast cancer tissues, suggesting a link between the two, and artificial fragrances that can irritate and dry skin. Ideally though, why have anything unnecessary in your hand soap at all? It’s time more of us understood that the luscious bubbly lather of what marketers say is “high-quality soap” is chemically-induced with a potential health cost included. Why risk it when other options exist? Why not just mix up an eco-friendly soap every few weeks, save money, time shopping and protect your health and your family’s health at the same time? This DIY recipe for amazing, cleansing, fail-proof hand soap makes it easier than ever. Check this out:

Grandma’s Life Hacks For Easy DIY Beauty and Home Fixes!

Now that summer is here, we’re spending more and more time in the sun and our hair gets lighter. Sometimes we get inspired and decide to go super light. Grandma’s life hack for lighter hair is 1 cup lemon juice and ¼ cup warm water mixed in a spray bottle. If your hair is dryer, swap out the warm water for your favorite conditioner. Spray on the sections you want lighter, or all over if you choose. Head out into the sunshine for 1-2 hours, don’t forget the sunscreen for your face, and when finished, wash out the mixture and deep condition to counter the drying effect lemon can sometimes have on hair. Fair warning, if your hair is rather dark, the lightening with lemon may make it look orange and will require more applications. Noticeable effects could take up to 4 applications.

5 Foods You Can Use to Make Natural Make-Up With (and Why You Should)

If you’ve ever turned over your beloved container of foundation, lipstick, blush, or bronzer, you’ve likely read a long list of ingredients you can’t pronounce. While many brands advertise themselves as being “natural” or even “organic,” the truth is, many of these labels are false in terms of their truly natural ingredient list and seemingly healthy profile. Superficial beauty comes with a price, and that price in this case, is pure chemicals. Chemicals that aren’t just dangerous for us, but also dangerous for animals. Many products in the make-up industry today directly include dead animal parts, or they may be tested on animals while animals are alive such as pouring certain items in their eyes or exposing them to deadly fumes. This isn’t just cruel, but also a little insane when you think about it. If we’re not sure something we’ll be putting on our skin that directly seeps through our pores and enters the bloodstream is safe, why are we even considering it in the first place? How did that become beautiful?Make-ups can also contain gluten, soy, and other allergenic ingredients people often believe only come through their diet. Then there’s the reaction to the chemicals in beauty products many people face. Eyes watering, rashes, dry skin, sneezing, oily breakouts — these might all be a reaction to a product you are using and can even lead to swelling, hives, and even headaches if you’re highly chemical-sensitive.

Whether or not we are eating them, bananas are handy to have around for the bedroom, garden, bathroom, and more. It’s time we start looking at bananas from angles many of us have never thought to do.1. For SleepBanana tea is a natural aid for helping tossers-and-turners sleep more soundly. David Wolfe, superfood guru, says bananas are loaded with potassium and magnesium, both which are great for the nervous system and effective for relaxing muscles. When stressed, magnesium is the first mineral to become depleted from the body. Bananas restore it. The Benefits of Using Organic and Natural Skincare

There are so many key phrases we’re told to look for when shopping for our makeup and skincare: natural, organic, chemical-free, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly. If only all of them were easier to decipher, skincare shopping would be a lot easier. But when natural can mean, “we use some natural ingredients,” and cruelty-free can mean “we still test our products on animals in China,” we have to know how to read a label, more now than ever. One of the biggest misconceptions is the idea of natural versus organic and that they are interchangeable labels. A product can be natural and organic, but not all natural products are organic, or even 100 percent natural. It’s important for all of your skincare to be natural for your overall health, but the benefit of using natural and organic skincare provides your skin with the purest form of the ingredient on the market.Major brands are catching on to the fact to that consumers want natural and organic skincare. Without even changing the formulas, many are slapping a “natural” or “organic” sticker when it’s not. If it says “natural,” read the label fully. If it says “organic,” make sure it’s labeled USDA certified organic. While major corporations may want you to stick to the brands you’ve always been exposed to in magazines and on television, it’s time to treat your body with respect by switching to what it really needs: natural and organic skincare.
